Currently caregiving for my 93 yr old dad
I am living in my dad's house on Loomis Lake near Klipsan Beach on the Long Beach peninsula, WA (about 2o mi N of Astoria, OR). My dad, Walt, is living at Golden Sands Assisted living facility at Klipsan Beach. He had a major stroke in Oct 2000, shortly before my mom, Theon, passed away in November. I spend a majority of my time at the ocean, taking him places and running errands plus managing his affairs. I have my mountain bike and a couple of kayaks for recreation. Living at the ocean requires lots of yard work as lawns a large and everyone is expected to keep them up. I am maintaing the greenhouse and garden and work hard keeping the birdfeeder filled and protected from the bears and squirrels. |

Theon's Prize Steelhead
My parents were committed fishermen and my mom won the NW Steelheaders trophy for the largest Steelhead caught during a derby on the Deschutes River in Oregon. Mom had congestive heart failure for about 5 years and maintained her zest for life nearly to the end. She encouraged us to play a lot of Pinochle games over a lot of years. |
